Casa África presented the programme of activities of Africa Lives 2025, an event that commemorates every 25th May the birth of the current African Union, an event known internationally as Africa Day. This date commemorates the founding in 1963 of the Organisation of African Unity, the seed of the current institution that brings together the 55 states of the continent. The day is celebrated in many parts of the world as a tribute to Africa's diversity, cultural richness and growing role on the global stage.
Faithful to its annual event, Casa África has put together a diverse and participatory programme that includes exhibitions, workshops, gastronomic exhibitions, fashion, music, sport and conferences. All these activities are organised in close collaboration with the Federation of African Associations in the Canary Islands (FAAC), the Association of African Women in the Canary Islands (AMAC), the Elder Museum of Science and Technology, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), and also have the support of Binter.
With the same spirit of meeting, knowledge and celebration that has characterised each edition, África Vive 2025 once again builds bridges between the Canary Islands and the African continent. Casa África invites citizens to join the activities, open to the public, that will take place throughout the month of May with the aim of giving visibility to the creativity, strength and diversity of African cultures.
