Mariam Bah boosts luxury tourism in Sierra Leone with new five-star hotel

Sierra Leone will soon have a new benchmark in high-end tourism. It is The Isatu, a five-star hotel promoted by the entrepreneur Mariam Bah, who, after eleven years in the American hotel industry, has decided to invest in the development of tourism in her country of origin.

The project, named after his mother, symbolises more than a personal return. For Bah, it is not about "giving something back", but about "investing forward", with a clear vision: to boost luxury tourism in West Africa from a local perspective, away from stereotypes and external dependencies.

In a market that is still emerging, where the supply of quality hotels is limited, The Isatu seeks to mark a before and after. Not only for its standards of comfort and design, but also for its business model, which aspires to be managed with local talent and a contemporary African identity.

Bah has stated in several interviews that he does not follow international trends, but wants to set his own rules. His aim is clear: to turn Sierra Leone into a destination of reference for high-end tourism, without renouncing its cultural authenticity.

Construction of the hotel is underway and has already attracted the interest of investors and specialised media. The Isatu represents not only an economic opportunity for the region, but also an example of how African entrepreneurship can lead ambitious projects with global impact.
