Aid from the Canary Islands for victims in São Vicente

El Consulado General Honorario de Cabo Verde en Canarias ha impulsado el envío de un contenedor de ayuda humanitaria a la isla de São Vicente. La iniciativa responde a la grave situación que atraviesa la población tras la tempestad sufrida el pasado 11 de agosto.

El cargamento partió desde Canarias gracias a la colaboración de la naviera Boluda y tiene como destino la Cruz Roja en São Vicente. Los materiales y enseres serán distribuidos entre las familias que perdieron sus bienes a causa de la tormenta.

Desde el consulado se subraya que la recuperación de la isla exigirá un esfuerzo colectivo y prolongado en el tiempo. El envío constituye un primer paso dentro de un proceso que aún requiere más apoyos.

La tempestad, de gran intensidad, provocó severos daños en infraestructuras y viviendas, dejando a numerosas familias en situación de vulnerabilidad. Por ello, la ayuda internacional se considera vital para acelerar la vuelta a la normalidad.

El consulado hace un llamamiento a la solidaridad ciudadana y empresarial en Canarias y en el resto de España. Cada aportación, por pequeña que parezca, contribuye a mejorar la situación de los damnificados en el archipiélago caboverdiano.
