The visit of MEPs to the Canary Islands was aimed at seeking urgent solutions, such as more funding.

A delegation from the European Parliament visited the Canary Islands to gain first-hand knowledge of the migratory situation in the archipelago. The focus is on unaccompanied minors.

MEPs met with local and regional authorities to assess the management of the Atlantic route. The aim is to propose joint solutions to a growing phenomenon.

The islands have become a strategic point between Africa and Europe. The archipelago faces sustained migratory pressure, which requires political, social and humanitarian coordination.

During the visit, the need to reinforce resources to care for young migrants was highlighted. The Canary Islands institutions insist on European support to guarantee their protection.

At the same time, the Canary Islands are strengthening their role as a health bridge to Africa. Dr. Luis López is promoting training programmes for medical interns and professionals in Mozambique.

Medical cooperation strengthens links beyond migration. Canary Islands healthcare exports knowledge and strengthens Spain's presence in Africa through solidarity and sustainable initiatives.
