Second edition of the International Forum of Parliamentarians.
Second edition of the International Forum of Parliamentarians.

Barranquilla hosts the fourth edition of the International Forum of Parliamentarians from 22 to 24 September. The meeting brings together representatives from Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The forum aims to strengthen intercontinental legislative cooperation. The agenda includes discussions on sustainable development, human rights, regional integration, climate change and democratic governance.

The Afro Legal Commission of the Colombian Congress leads the organisation. Its role highlights the ethnic-racial inclusion and recognition of Afro-descendant communities in parliamentary diplomacy.

The president of the Commission, Gersel Pérez Altamiranda, highlighted the historical value of the event. He underlined the importance of giving prominence to Afro-descendant voices on the international agenda.

The choice of Barranquilla recognises Colombia's leadership and the strategic projection of the Caribbean as an intercontinental meeting point. The city consolidates itself as a platform for global dialogue.

The previous edition, held in Bogotá, was attended by more than 40 parliamentarians from countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Congo, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Central African Republic, Tunisia and Venezuela.
