For some months now, a map has been circulating on social networks, to the point of going viral, claiming that unaccompanied foreign minors (MENA) receive a monthly allowance of up to 400 euros in Madrid and 1,125 euros in Valencia. This map comes from a content published by a national newspaper, which mentions an alleged "monthly allowance for MENA by Autonomous Communities" and includes other figures, such as 420 euros in Andalusia, 399 euros in Galicia or 300 euros in Murcia. These figures have also been circulated in a viral video in which the spokesperson for Más Madrid, Mónica García, appears to be talking about this 'monthly allowance for the MENA'.
However, this is a deception. No autonomous community grants unaccompanied foreign minors a monthly allowance of 300, 400 or 1,125 euros, as confirmed by this portal through various official media consulted. The figures shown on the map actually refer to regional allowances for low-income adults or benefits for persons over 18 years of age who have been under the guardianship of the Administration, regardless of their nationality, but not to unaccompanied foreign minors.
