New edition of the African Teachers Webinar

A new webinar on Teachers in Africa will be held online from 3 to 5 p.m. (EAT) on 3 April. This is an initiative co-funded by the African Federation of Education Regulatory Authorities, the African Union, the African Regional Initiative for Teachers of the European Union and the Knowledge Exchange and Innovation Programme of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE KIX). The latter is a joint initiative with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Canada.

The event is organised by the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa, which leads the GPE KIX Africa 19 regional centre and is a partner of the European Union Regional Initiative for Teachers in Africa.

Theme: Policy, funding and institutional support for teacher professional development programmes

Keynote speakers:

  • Ramya Vivekanandan - GPE Thematic Leader for Quality Education: Teachers and Teaching.
  • Dr. Diego Angel-Urdinola - Lead Economist, Education Global Practice, World Bank.
  • Mr. Gerard Murasira - Director of Teacher Education, Rwandan Council for Basic Education.
  • John McIntosh - Co-CEO, STiR Education.
  • Mr Léon N. Mugenzi - ADEA Inter-Country Group for Quality Education.
