Global AI Summit Africa 2025

The First Global Summit on Artificial Intelligence in Africa concluded today in Rwanda, with the aim of boosting innovation and strengthening the continent's technological capabilities. Under the theme "AI and Africa's Demographic Dividend: Reimagining Economic Opportunities for Africa's Workforce", the event brought together over a thousand participants from 95 countries, including policy makers, entrepreneurs, researchers and investors.

Over two days, advances in artificial intelligence, the improvement of job skills, and the exchange of knowledge with other regions were discussed. One of the highlights was the creation of the African AI Council, which will lead the continent's strategic development in this field.

The event also featured panel discussions, workshops and presentations from over 100 African startups in the sector. It highlighted the potential for Africa, which has the fastest growing global workforce, to play a key role in the global AI ecosystem.

It is estimated that, by 2030, artificial intelligence could contribute $2.9 trillion to the African economy, lift 11 million people out of poverty and generate 500,000 jobs annually. However, the continent's leaders will face economic, social and geostrategic challenges to consolidate a common vision to ensure African leadership in the digital age.
