Will Africa break with the Western model?

Aleksander Dugin, a Kremlin ideologue and key figure in Russian ultra-nationalism, proposes a break with the Western model for Africa in order to build a spiritual and geopolitical alliance with Eurasia, led by Russia. According to his vision, Africa must abandon the structures imposed by European colonialism and recover its traditional spiritual and cultural roots. This proposal, which promotes an authoritarian and anti-Western model, is already finding an echo in the Sahel, where Russia is gaining ground on France and the US through military and political alliances.

Although the Canaries are not explicitly mentioned, the archipelago is challenged by this geostrategic shift. Its role as a bridge between Europe and Africa could be weakened if the African continent redefines its alliances and perceives European structures as colonial. Moreover, Russia's growing military deployment in North Africa, just off the islands, adds a strategic nuance that cannot be ignored. The implicit message: the Canary Islands must adapt to this transformation or risk being left out of the new multipolar order that is emerging.
