The Science by Women initiative is launching its eleventh call for research grants for African women scientists. The official launch took place on 20 October 2025.

Applications can be submitted until 30 November. Those selected will be announced on 23 December. The period of the fellowships will run from 1 January 2026 to 31 May 2027.

This programme, promoted by Women for Africa, allows women researchers living in African countries to carry out research stays in Spanish centres of excellence. Projects with a regional scientific and social impact are sought.

In previous editions, the programme facilitated six-month stays with financial coverage and logistical support, strengthening cooperation between Spain and Africa.

The profiles admitted must have a doctorate and research experience. Academic merit, leadership and the quality of the proposed project will be valued.

With this call, the foundation reinforces its commitment to reduce the gender gap in science and promote African female talent.
