The Women for Africa Foundation celebrates in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria a decade of promoting the continent's female scientific talent with the presentation of the documentary The Science of African Women. The screening will take place on 25th June at 19:00 at Casa África's headquarters and is part of the commemorative programme of Science by Women, an initiative that has promoted the training and leadership of African female researchers in Spanish centres of excellence.
The film gathers the direct testimony of women scientists who have participated in the programme, addressing from their experience the structural barriers in access to knowledge, innovation and research. Beyond the individual stories, the documentary offers a choral vision of the transformative role of these women in their communities, especially in critical areas such as health, the environment and food security.
As a complement, a round table will be held on 26 June under the title Scientific cooperation as a fundamental element for progress in any field, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. National and international experts and institutions will discuss how transnational collaboration strengthens responses to major global challenges. Both events are free of charge until full capacity is reached.
