Gunfire, spectacular costumes and the deafening sound of trumpets brought the city of Dutse to life during the durbar, a majestic equestrian parade marking Eid al-Fitr, the holiday celebrating the end of Ramadan.

In this centuries-old tradition, emirs ride through their territories in imposing processions on horseback. This year, the Emir of Dutse, Hameem Nuhu Sunusi, paraded on a majestic white steed, protected by an elegant blue umbrella. As he passed by, royal hunters fired shots into the air to announce his arrival, while the city was filled with joy and excitement.

According to UNESCO, the durbar is a "brilliant display of equestrian prowess and the rich heritage of its people". From young explorers to experienced riders, this festival is a celebration for all ages.
