The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, presented the Good Practice Guide for the care of unaccompanied migrant minors, a document resulting from the conclusions drawn during the working day held at the beginning of the month in Madrid, in which professionals from many social entities, public institutions and specialists in the field of children and migration took part.

The aim of this guide is not to offer a technical or regulatory framework, but to propose concrete actions that will allow immediate progress to be made in the quality of care provided to these children. It is a useful tool, developed collaboratively, which brings together experiences, difficulties and practical solutions that have been tested in the field.

The publication focuses on key aspects such as initial reception, emotional care, protection of fundamental rights (health, education, documentation) and the necessary coordination between administrations and organisations. It also promotes the adoption of common criteria for the referral of cases, the formation of multidisciplinary teams and the continuous evaluation of available resources.

This initiative reinforces the commitment of the participating organisations to guarantee dignified, humane care adapted to the real needs of these minors, with the conviction that improving reception and accompaniment systems is a shared responsibility.
