In Inhambane Bay, Mozambique, the Khessani cooperative is promoting an innovative project that uses mangrove resources in a sustainable way, integrating food production, environmental protection and social equity. The initiative aims to strengthen food security through aquaculture, generating new sources of income for local communities.

With a strong focus on empowering women in the Jangamo district, the programme promotes their active participation in the production and marketing of products such as shellfish and crustaceans. Funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the project lays the groundwork for replicating this development model in other coastal areas of Africa.
