Ibrahim Diop, commercial director of the Mauricenter hotel in Nouakchott, has made some reflections published on Linkedin about the present and future of tourism in Mauritania. Since its opening in 2013, the hotel has consolidated a philosophy based on close and familiar treatment with its guests, and now plans to extend its presence to cities such as Nouadhibou and Kaedi.

According to the head of the Mauricenter, the hotel sector faces significant obstacles. One of them is the introduction of electronic visas, which, far from facilitating procedures, has generated confusion and limited access, making it difficult for visitors to arrive.

Despite this, Diop is optimistic. He points out that Mauritania, with its diverse landscape and political stability that is rare in the region, remains a welcoming land with great opportunities to develop. It is a destination that is moving slowly but surely.
