Morocco ranks as the third African nation with the highest concentration of private wealth, according to the Africa Wealth Report 2025 by Henley & Partners and New World Wealth. With 7,500 resident millionaires, the Maghreb country strengthens its position among the continent's leading economies.
The study counts 35 centi-millionaires on Moroccan soil - fortunes exceeding 100 million dollars - and four billionaires. These figures place Morocco behind South Africa, which leads with more than 41,000 millionaires, and Egypt, which has 6,800. Above Nigeria and Kenya, Morocco is consolidating its position as a key player in the distribution of African wealth.
Casablanca, recognised as the country's economic centre, is among the ten most prosperous cities in Africa. The city is home to 2,900 millionaires, including eleven centi-millionaires and one billionaire, making it a major financial centre in the north of the continent.
Morocco's dynamism is also reflected in Marrakech. The city recorded a 67% increase in the number of millionaires in the last decade, ranking second only to Mauritius in the continent in terms of wealth growth. By mid-2025, the tourist capital had 1,700 millionaires, a figure that reinforces its attractiveness as an investment and lifestyle destination.
The report highlights that, between 2015 and 2025, Morocco experienced a 40% increase in its high net worth population. This trend contrasts with the decline in countries such as Nigeria, Angola and Algeria, which have lost a significant part of their economic elite over the same period.
Morocco's performance reflects both macroeconomic stability and policies of openness to foreign investment. The boost to sectors such as renewable energy, luxury tourism and port logistics makes the Alawi kingdom one of the most promising destinations for private wealth in Africa.
