Mozambique's parliament unanimously approved a bill to promote an "inclusive national dialogue", which envisages the revision of the constitution and presidential powers following the October 2024 electoral crisis. The initiative was supported by all parties, including the ruling Frelimo and the opposition.
The project seeks to strengthen democracy and resolve conflicts through dialogue, according to its promoters. In addition, in March, several political forces signed a commitment to create a platform for dialogue and to consider pardons for those detained in the post-election protests, which left more than 300 people dead.
The election was won by Daniel Chapo with 65 % of the votes, although his opposition rival, Venancio Mondlane, claimed fraud and claimed to have won with 53 %.
