RECABA: Connecting entrepreneurship in the Canary Islands with global investment

The Confederación de Empresarios de Tenerife and the Confederación Canaria de Empresarios launch the RECABA programme.
The Confederación de Empresarios de Tenerife and the Confederación Canaria de Empresarios launch the RECABA programme.

In a context where innovation networks are expanding beyond traditional borders, the Canary Islands are consolidating their position as a natural bridge between Europe, Latin America and Africa. From this Atlantic enclave emerges RECABA - Red Canaria de Business Angels, an initiative promoted by CEOE Tenerife and the Confederación Canaria de Empresarios, with the support of the Regional Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and the Self-Employed of the Canary Islands Government and the public financial institution SODECAN.

Born with the purpose of boosting the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Islands and attracting smart capital to the regional productive fabric, RECABA offers a complete training, mentoring and investment itinerary, which connects innovative ideas with investors seeking impact, scalability and economic return in emerging sectors. The objective is clear: to turn the Canary Islands into a hub of reference for private investment, with a global outlook.

The Canary Islands, due to its geostrategic position, not only acts as a logistical, tourist or commercial bridge, but now also projects itself as a space for technological experimentation, business innovation and attraction of talent, thanks to the synergies generated by a network such as RECABA.

An ecosystem aligned with global challenges

The Canary Islands Business Angels Network is not just a programme: it is an ecosystem. RECABA works with at least 40 entrepreneurial projects every year, from which it selects 15 for their potential impact and viability. These teams are offered a comprehensive journey from training to access to investment rounds with business angels.

At the same time, it also trains local and foreign investors, especially those who want to get started in venture capital, democratising access to this type of alternative financing and building an investment community committed to regional development.

And this is key. Because investment is a two-way affair: one who seeks capital, and one who seeks purpose and profitability in where to invest it.

A space with unique competitive advantages
The Canary Islands offer an exceptional fiscal and financial framework. As an outermost region of the EU, it has incentives such as:

- ZEC (Canary Islands Special Zone) with reduced tax rates
- R&D&I and venture capital tax deductions
- Co-investment programmes and public-private funds

All this makes the Islands a highly attractive place to start or scale an innovative project with a technological base or social impact. But beyond the legal or fiscal benefits, what the Canary Islands offer - and what RECABA promotes - is a mentality open to change, a connected community and a multicultural environment that is ideal for innovation. The Canary Islands can and should be a platform for launching, validating and expanding many of these projects.

How to join RECABA?

If you are an entrepreneur with an innovative project in the Canary Islands (or with a vocation for impact in the region) or if you are an investor interested in connecting with startups with potential, RECABA is looking for you.

- Write to us at: recaba@ceoe-tenerife.com
- Registration for investors
- Registration of new entrepreneurs

The Canary Islands wants to undertake. RECABA wants to connect ideas, talent and capital. You can be part of this new Atlantic future.
