Rwanda has taken the historic step of becoming the first country to use autonomous drones on a massive scale to deliver medical supplies. In collaboration with the company Zipline, the drones deliver blood, vaccines and medicines to remote communities in less than 30 minutes, overcoming access difficulties caused by poor roads.
The system has already significantly reduced maternal deaths and saved thousands of lives. By relying on technology rather than waiting for traditional infrastructure development, Rwanda is positioning itself as an innovation leader in Africa, demonstrating how local solutions can transform essential services.
