The SEIMLab project was presented this week at Casa África, with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the main coordinator of the programme.
The event was attended by Luis Serra, rector of the ULPGC, Nasara Cabrera, researcher of the project, and Ana María Hernández, manager of Casa África, who highlighted the importance of the initiative.
SEIMLab is part of the Interreg MAC 2021-2027 strategy and seeks to strengthen academic, social and economic collaboration between the Canary Islands and West African countries.
Its main objectives include promoting the labour integration of young migrants, creating transnational cooperation networks and fostering the exchange of knowledge between educational institutions and companies.
During the presentation, the first steps of the project were announced: training programmes, cultural exchange workshops and monitoring mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of the actions undertaken.
With its launch, SEIMLab aims to become a benchmark for Atlantic cooperation, combining research, social development and job placement opportunities in a framework of lasting collaboration.
