Senegal's exports continue to show a positive evolution, according to data published by the National Agency of Statistics and Demography (ANSD) for April 2025. The report reveals a significant increase in the country's foreign trade, with encouraging figures in several strategic sectors.
The growth is largely explained by the dynamism of exports of petroleum products, which increased by 24.7 billion FCFA. Also noteworthy were the gains in the sale of other goods, with an increase of 19.6 billion FCFA, as well as in crude petroleum oils and marine products, with an additional 17.8 and 15 billion FCFA, respectively.
These favourable developments confirm the consolidation of key sectors of the Senegalese economy, which are strengthening its presence on international markets. The diversification of exportable products and the strengthening of logistics chains appear to be producing sustainable results.
On the import side, an increase was also recorded, albeit with a different profile. The main imported products were other oil products, up 30.0 billion FCFA, followed by rice, up 25.9 billion FCFA.
Wheat and its mixtures, as well as metal products, complete the list of the largest imported items, with increases of 12.2 and 12.8 billion FCFA, respectively. This trend reflects a growing domestic demand for consumer goods and raw materials.
With these figures, Senegal's foreign trade continues to emerge as a key driver of the national economy, supported by expanding sectors and growth-oriented trade management.
