Casa África will open its doors to the seventh edition of the collective exhibition "Boxes for a dream", which can be visited between the 18th of September and the 9th of October in the Equatorial Guinea room. The initiative, promoted by SOS Children's Villages Spain, brings together more than fifty artists who have transformed wine boxes into unique artistic pieces.
In total, 53 artists from different disciplines have intervened in the boxes donated by the Gilmar real estate group. The works will be auctioned on 9 October with the aim of raising funds for projects to support children in Africa and in the province of Las Palmas.
The list of participants includes names such as DelAmorylaBelleza, Pepe Dámaso, Maica Luis, Karina Beltrán, Luz Sosa, Paco Presa and Carmen Sánchez, along with many other established and emerging artists. Each one brings their own style to an unusual medium on the art circuit.
Bids can be placed from the opening day. The public will have the option of participating by depositing their bids in an urn installed in the hall, through social networks or, on the 9th of October, by telephone during the auction at Casa África. The starting price of each box will be 70 euros.
The exhibition offers a varied itinerary that ranges from classical techniques, such as oil or acrylic, to more daring proposals that incorporate ceramics, photography, engraving or sculptural elements. The diversity of approaches makes each piece a unique work.
The proposal was born in 2016 thanks to the initiative of the nurse and creator Esther Vega. Since then, more than 400 artists have collaborated with this solidarity project, which has turned wooden boxes into a meaningful artistic medium.
