Economic relations between the Canary Islands and Mauritania take a decisive step forward this week with the celebration of the Atlantic Marine, Energy and Industrial Support Summit (AMEISS) in Nouakchott. The meeting brings together leading companies from the energy, maritime and industrial sectors of both territories, with the aim of opening new cooperation routes in the Atlantic.
The meeting is shaping up to be a high-level space to promote joint investments in renewable energies, port services, infrastructures and maritime logistics. The Canary Islands, with their experience in energy innovation and maritime transport, seek to consolidate themselves as a strategic partner of Mauritania in its industrial modernisation process.
The event includes a day of B2B business meetings at the FASQ hotel, designed to encourage direct agreements between companies from both sides of the ocean. The organisation has set up a digital platform to arrange appointments and access the profiles of all participants, facilitating an agile and transparent business environment.
AMEISS symbolises a turning point in the relationship between the Canary Islands and Mauritania, which in recent years have forged closer ties in trade, ports and energy. This edition marks, according to its promoters, the step towards greater cooperation, aimed at sustainable development and regional economic integration.
The meeting, promoted by public and private entities from the two countries, aims to lay the foundations for an Atlantic corridor of innovation and clean energy. With this initiative, the Canary Islands are strengthening their role as a linking platform between Africa and Europe, while Mauritania is consolidating its position as a new development hub in West Africa.
