“When the Harmattan Blows” (Audio Poem)

A strong north-easterly wind is blowing,
with sand as far as the Gulf of Guinea.
Being so cold, dry and dusty,
the intense rays of the sun.

Breath that gives name to a station
and leaves its mark on the Sahara.
As warm as possible depending on the region,
where a stoic population copes.

From November to March he wanted to paint it
the hand of the Balearic artist.
Lived in Mali to experience it
and this synoptic work create.

Flame with the armatán the suits
and cast shadows on the silhouettes.
The trade winds draw landscapes for us
that inspire painters and poets.

Blue and yellow are reminiscent of
the symbolism of many flags.
Fine lines so they don't get lost
women and children at the borders.

Its title evokes a response,
an existential youthful cry,
the beautiful and angry protest song
to a dictatorial political regime.
