Legendary Senegalese musician Youssou Ndour staged an emotional artistic reunion with Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo at the opening of the Metropolitan Museum's new African gallery in New York. The evening, charged with symbolism and cultural pride, was celebrated as a moment of unity and celebration of Africa's heritage, with two of its most influential voices sharing the stage in a space of global recognition. The performance was enthusiastically received both by the audience and on social media, where Ndour's expressive power and emotional connection with the audience was highlighted.

A key figure in African music since the 1980s, Youssou Ndour has managed to maintain an impeccable career without losing any of his characteristic clear and powerful voice. His performance at the MET once again confirmed what many fans expressed on social media: "a living monument of African music", "a reference of an entire people" or "his voice does not tremble, he always sings just right", are some of the praises shared. The event was not only an artistic display, but also a reminder of the central role that artists like Ndour play in the international representation of the continent.
