On the occasion of Africa Day, 25 May, Pastor Batista published an opinion article on the Escambray portal entitled Africa, the common mother, in which he reflects on the deep ties that unite Cuba with the African continent, both from a historical and cultural perspective and from the solidarity commitment that has characterised the island's international projection. Through an emotional and enlightening analysis, the author vindicates Africa's role as the cradle of humanity and calls for a fairer, more respectful and committed look at a region rich in values and potential, but still marked by profound inequalities.

Pastor Batista holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Havana (1984) and has a solid career in the written press, including work in the military media and an outstanding experience as a war correspondent in Angola. His work has been recognised professionally with important awards, including a replica of the Machete of Máximo Gómez and prizes in national journalistic competitions. Specialised in economic and political issues, he combines journalism with his literary vocation.
